Memberships

Q: What are the different types of memberships that you offer?
A: At Ashley Lynn's we offer 5 memberships. Each membership includes different tanning equipment. Please stop in and we'll help you to find the best option that fits your tanning needs.

Q: How does the membership program work?
A: The membership option is the BEST VALUE if you plan to tan around 3 to 5 times a depending on the membership you sign up for. It will allow you to tan unlimited at any location with no appointment. You will also receive member only specials when signing up for the membership. Please stop into any location for current specials and promotions with our memberships and to receive a full tour of all our pieces of equipment.

Q: What is the best tanning option if I only want to tan short term?
A: Our VIP+ and Gold membership has recently converted to a month-by-month agreement. Therefore, even if you are only looking to tan for a month or two, the memberships are still the most affordable option. Ashley Lynn's also offers tanning packages ranging from 5 – 25 tans. Please visit any Ashley Lynn's location for a tour and our staff can help you to find the package that best suits your needs.

Packages & Lotions

Q: How much does it cost for one week of level one tanning?
A: Ashley Lynn's offers a “One Week Trial” membership for anyone that has never tanned with us before. The cost is $11.95 for one week of unlimited (once per day) entry level tanning. We also offer a week of entry level tanning for high school students with a valid high school ID. The cost for the high school week is $11.95.

Q: Do tanning packages ever expire?
A: Tanning Packages purchased do not expire. If you have a membership and have purchased upgrade packages – those packages would only expire if you choose to cancel your membership.

Q: Do you only offer memberships?
A: Ashley Lynn's offers a variety of packages, prepaid options, and memberships to fit a variety of needs. Please stop into ANY Ashley Lynn's location to receive a full tour of our store and the different levels of equipment we offer. We would love to discuss with you what options would best fit your lifestyle!

Q: Can you purchase items if you are not a member?
A: Absolutely! Ashley Lynn's caters to members and non-members. Tanning lotions and products also make great gift ideas for birthdays, Christmas, graduation, etc. If in doubt, we even sell gift cards!

Q: I want to purchase a lotion, but not sure what type would work best for me?
A: Purchasing a lotion is a great decision and we understand it may be a little overwhelming with all of the different products. But, Ashley Lynn's carries a wide variety of products to fit every customer’s needs, as well as budget. Our specially trained customer service representatives are always available to answer any questions and to help you pick out the perfect products for your own personal needs.

Job Applications

Q: I’ve submitted my application. Now what?
A: Once you have submitted an application online, the Store Leader(s) of the location(s) that you applied for to review your application. If that location is looking to hire, and you meet the necessary requirements for the job description, a Store Leader will contact you for a phone interview.

Q: How do I apply for a job?
A: To apply for a position with Ashley Lynn's Tanning, please refer back to the Employment Section. The application process is done online through the website and will take approximately an hour to complete.

Account

Q: How do I freeze my account?
A: To freeze your account, simply stop into any of our area Ashley Lynn's locations.

Q: How do I cancel my account?
A: To cancel your membership, simply stop into any of our area Ashley Lynn's locations.

Q: How does the freeze program work?
A: The freeze program is a great option for someone who is not planning to tan for anywhere from 1 up to 12 months. It only costs $5(+tax) per month to put your account onto a freeze, but all of that money gets credited back to you to use as in-store credit for upgrades or lotion when you begin tanning again. Also, putting your account on hold is better than cancelling because any upgrades will be saved for you and you won’t have to pay any sign-up fees when you are ready to start tanning again!

Q: I have moved out of state. How can I cancel/freeze my account?
A: If you moved out of the state and will be unable to stop into an Ashley Lynn's location to cancel your membership, please refer to the “Locations” section. You can contact the Store Leader of your main location via phone or email and they can take care of the cancellation.

Q: What should I do if there is a balance on my account and I want to tan again?
A: If there is a balance owed on your tanning account, and you are interested in tanning with us again, the balance WILL need to be paid. Please stop into any Ashley Lynn's location to find out the exact amount that is due and to take care of the balance.

Q: I thought I cancelled my account, but am still being billed. How can I fix this?
A: In order to cancel your account, you would have needed to physically stop into an Ashley Lynn's location and sign a cancel log. If you remember doing this and you have a confirmation number, you will need to call or stop into the location that you did the cancellation and speak with a Store Leader. They will be able to assist you further with any issues.

Q: Can I change my membership to a different one? (Upgrade/Downgrade)
A: Yes, you are able to change which membership you have to a different as long as your first billing commitment has been met. You can do this as often as you need to better fit your lifestyle and tanning needs. Please keep in mind that once you upgrade or downgrade your membership, it is required that you keep that membership for a minimum of one billing cycle before upgrading or downgrading again.

Q: How can I change which account I’m being debited from?
A: You may change the account from which Ashley Lynn's debits at any time by stopping into any location and filling out a Change of Pay form. Be sure to do this by the last day of the month before you want it to be effective for, as Ashley Lynn's does our billings on the 1st of each month.

Q: If I cancel my account, why do I lose my upgrade packages?
A: When you cancel your membership, you will also lose any upgrades that are on your account. This is due to the fact that as a member you receive discounts on the upper level equipment. Guest prices are for anyone who does not have one of our memberships. If and when you cancel your membership, you will be subject to guest prices from then on. *Remember that we do offer a “Freeze” option which will save your upgrades!*

Q: Can I share a membership with someone else?
A: At Ashley Lynn's we do require that there is only person using each account/membership. This is to ensure that we accurately know each person’s skin type to make sure that you are getting the best tan possible! At times we may ask for a photo ID to verify that multiple persons are not tanning on one account or to get the correct spelling of your name when looking up your account. Please do not be offended, we are doing this for your security, as well as ours.

Tanning Equipment

Q: Do you have spray tanning?
A: Most Ashley Lynn's Tanning locations (excluding 14th & Farnam, North Liberty and Iowa City) have the VersaSpa spray tan booth. We currently offer 3 Spray Tans for $39 (retail value $90). Visit www.versaspa.com for details on the booth or stop into any salon.

Q: Do you have leg only equipment?
A: No, Ashley Lynn's does not offer “leg only” equipment. But we do suggest that customers who have trouble tanning their legs try our stand-up booths. It will help to even out the all over color (360 degree tan) as well as help with any pressure points and tan lines.

Q: How often are your lamps changed?
A: We change the lamps in our beds halfway through their lifetime. So they are ALWAYS changed before they are even close to their end. This means you will get deep dark sexy tan every time!

Q: What is the difference in the beds/booths that you offer? What do the level’s mean?
A: We offer several different pieces of equipment. A level two will give you two times the results as an entry level piece of equipment. Level threes are going to tan you three times faster than a entry level piece of equipment. The higher level equipment has more UVA vs. UVB rays so you are less likely to burn, plus see the results a lot faster!

Q: How can I find out your current special?
A: You can find out about our current specials and promotions by stopping into any of our Ashley Lynn's locations. We suggest stopping by rather than calling as often times there are many different specials and promotions that are being offered and they are much easier to explain in person. You may also refer back to the “About Us” section in “Memberships & Specials” for exciting web-only offers!

Q: I received a card for free services, how does that work? Is it really free?
A: Yes, it is really FREE! While most offers have a limit of one per client – we would love to see you in our salons and would like to give you the opportunity to try out our services for free! Simply stop into any location and we will be more than happy to get you started with your free tanning!

Other Questions

Q: How do I contact a particular location?
A: Each location can be contacted individually. For the Store Leader’s name and store phone number, please refer to the “Locations” category. When contacting a store, it is best to contact the location that you use the most frequently.

Q: What holidays are you closed/close early (and what time)?
A: Ashley Lynn's is closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. In addition, we do close at 4pm on the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve.

Q: Can I go to any location?
A: Yes, absolutely! You can go to any and all of our convenient locations. Please see the “Locations” page for each location.

Q: Do I have to make an appointment?
A: No, you never need to make an appointment to tan. Ashley Lynn's is a walk-in only salon and is operated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q: How old do you have to be to tan?
A: To tan, you must be at least 14 years old. If you are 14 or 15, you will also need a parent/guardian to come in with you for the first time to sign a consent form.

Q: How long do I have to wait between tans? If I tan at 8:00 pm, can I tan again the next day at noon?
A: We allow you to tan once a day, however we do suggest that you try and wait 24 hours in between sessions to avoid overexposure.

Q: I have heard that tanning is bad for you and could cause skin cancer. Is this true?
A: There are a lot of positive effects from tanning and from UV light. When used in moderation, there are lots of good things that come from tanning and from the Vitamin D that is produced while tanning. Some of these benefits include that it helps to prevent breast, colon, and prostate cancers, it helps with “Seasonal Affective Disorder” (AKA “Winter Blues), helps with fibromyalgia and arthritis. Please remember to TAN SMART – and never sunburn! For more information, please see the “Vitamin D” page.

Q: How does my skin tan?
A: When the UV rays penetrate the first layer of skin, they come into contact with special skin cells called melanocytes. Those melanocytes, when activated, produced melanin. The melanin rises to the surface of the skin and combines with oxygen. This is how you get the golden brown color of a tan.

Q: What are the hours of operation?
A: Some of the locations offer different hours than others. Please refer to the “Locations” section for specific hours of each location.

Q: Why do I have to bring my eyewear when I tan? Sometimes I don’t even use it?
A: Not using eyewear for an extended period of time can damage your vision or cause disorders of the eye. We just want to make sure that everyone has the proper precautions made available to them. We do offer eyewear for you to purchase in the Ashley Lynn's salons and they are very affordable.
